QUINTA QS SARDONIA 2019

When Peter Sisseck in 2011 chose to step down from the ownership group of Quinta Sardonia and handed over responsibility for the wines to Jérôme Bougnaud and Christian Rei, there is still a clear common mindset around Quinta Sardonia and Dominio de Pingus, and like Peter Sisseck, Jérôme and Christian have in recent years begun to strive for the fruit and finesse in the wines rather than the violent expression. A nice intense, but still fresh wine with lots of ripe berry fruit, especially blackberries, raspberries and cherries that blend nicely with spicy garrigue and the aromatic notes of chocolate and vanilla from the barrel aging as well as a twist of licorice. Silky tannins and so surprisingly mineral that the word elegant begins to press on.
